The Fraud
1949. Veteran Sergey Gastev (by Yevgeni Tsyganov) is a professor of Roman Law at the university of the regional capital city. He has a secret affair with Lyudmila Mishina (by Mariya Mashkova), a Komsomol leader.
The city is unexpectedly shaken by a number of impudent crimes, and former detective Gastev is sent to join an urgently assembled gang unit. Gastev is assisted by Ivan Ropnya (by Aleksandr Ilyin), a young rural inspector.
But while investigating one crime, the characters unwittingly trace another, an epic financial fraud connected to Stalin’s 70th anniversary. Gastev starts suspecting that Mishina has something to do with it as well. The tangled threads of the crime lead to the very top and the heroes are in mortal danger now.
