A Modern Day Jack the Ripper

 A new project is being shot at RWS – St. Petersburg studio facility. A 12-episode made-for-TV film (directed by Evgeny Zvezdakov, director of photography Sergei Machilsky) follows the story of a modern day Jack the Ripper.

The lead character, Nikolai Troitsky (Dmitri Maryanov), St. Petersburg GUVD (Main Department of Internal Affairs) detective, is investigating the circumstances of the prostitutes’ murder cases suspecting that these crimes are committed by one person. Knowing that the local police department is seeking to wrap up the case as soon as possible, Troitsky launches his own detection. Together with a reporter Zhanna (Maria Mashkova) he notices a strange resemblance between the modern day murders and what happened in London 120 years ago… Victims’ names, bodily injuries, and murder circumstances are so much alike the crimes of days of other years… Finally, Troitsky and Zhanna get on the trail of a man in Saint Petersburg who believes that London Jack the Ripper’s violent spirit has reincarnated in him. The detective and the reporter join their efforts and start pursuing the serial killer…
