Sea Patrol Hands Over Duty

The first part of this lyrical detective broadcast in 2008 beat the popularity records (according to the rating, Sea Patrol ranked second after football; almost every other country resident watched the TV-series). The second season turned out to be even more adventurous, dynamic and lively. While the success formula stayed the same, “Sea. Summer. Anapa”, the TV-series itself has undergone a few “cosmetic” changes. According to Dmitri Orlov (Captain Melnikov), the characters have acquired a more well-groomed appearance and started to resemble metrosexuals rather than modest policemen from the first season. Svetlana Antonova’s heroine (Marina Zayats) appeared transformed as well having changed her modest prosecutor’s uniform into tight skirts and high-heels which helped her to win Melnikov’s heart. Viewers saw Anapa, where the story took place, not as a provincial seacoast town but a modern boisterous resort full of inviting beach lights and sounds of vibrant music.
