“Kaleidoscope” Chosen for “Window to Europe” (aka “Okno v Evropu”) Film Festival in Vyborg

“Kaleidoscope” was chosen for «Window to Europe», XVI Russian film festival which will take place August 8th – 15th, 2008 in Vyborg.
The film festival «Window to Europe» was created in 1993, which was one of the most difficult times for Russian cinematography. Famous directors Savva Kulish and Marlen Khutsiev together with the music composer Michael Tariverdiev, documentary film director Vladimir Konovalov, and producers Gevorg Nersisyan and Andrei Simonov decided to gather in the border city of Vyborg those people who kept making films and risked distributing them in spite of those rough times. The idea of turning the main prize of the film market festival (this is how the festival was originally called) into supporting film distribution and promotion was accepted by the Russian Goskino (State Cinema Authority of Russia). It was in Goskino as well where the name “Window to Europe” was coined.
