RWS is 2morrow Generation Campus Educational Program’s official partner
Shooting of films will be conducted on October 17, 2009, and the following day will be devoted to footage editing. Russian World Studios, one of the few Russian studios offering a full range of top-quality film production services, is Tomorrow Generation Campus educational program’s official partner providing film shooting equipment. Yuri Sapronov, RWS CEO, comments on the RWS participation in the campus’ activities, “We are happy to have an opportunity to take part in the campus’ educational program and to help students put their knowledge into practice, to let them try themselves at real life film shooting using our cutting-edge equipment. Because film studio is not limited to sound stages; It is a network of facilities, including fully equipped
premises, state-of-the-art equipment and, most importantly, highly-qualified human resources! According to the commonly used statistical data, it takes 200 films to make 2 excellent ones, and at least 50 students to educate one good producer. Films should be made for audience; therefore respect for audience should be shown by making high quality films, using not only technical achievements but the best human resources as well. That’s why our company pays particular attention to training talent for Russian budding film industry.”
An opportunity to make a film in five days under supervision and with active involvement of key industry experts and present the results of work at the International Film Festival “Zavtra / 2morrow” closing ceremony is a true chance of a lifetime.
Shooting 3-minute educational films is an important component of Tomorrow Generation Campus program since it provides the participants with the opportunity to work under conditions close to real life film shooting. Tight schedule, international team, and a distinct creative task contribute to efficient teamwork. Moreover, the shooting process is supervised by industry experts, both Russian and international aces. This is exactly what training courses and programs delivered by the eldest Russian film universities lack.
Two educational films were made by directors and producers under the International Educational Program Generation Campus held in Vladivostok in 2008. Actresses Ingeborga Dapkunaite and Oksana Akinshina, cinematographer Alisher Khamidkhodjaev, director Nikolay Khomeriki and many others took part in the filming.
CJSC “Russian World Studios” (RWS) was founded in 1998 and is one of the largest film and television production companies in the Russian market. By 2008 RWS produced and serviced hundreds of TV and film projects, including 20 international ones.
RWS Moscow studio facility meets international production standards for the quality of technical equipment, volume of shooting premises and additional offered services.
The construction of RWS studio in Saint Petersburg started in 2005. The construction of the first phase of the studio was completed in July 2008 with a total investment of $100 million. It is the first dedicated production studio standing up to international standards built in Russia in the past 60 years.
