Yuri Anatolievich Sapronov is a co-founder and the current CEO of Russian World Studios, one of the leading film and television production companies in Russia.

Prior to founding Russian World Studios in 1998 with Andrei Smirnov, current CEO of Sistema Mass Media, Sapronov was CEO of Interactive Television LLC. In 2007 RWS was reorganized into a Russian World Studios and JSFC “Sistema” joint venture company, CJSC “RWS,” and Sapronov was appointed the first deputy CEO, Head of the Production Department. In 2008 he was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of CJSC “RWS.”

Sapronov serves as a producer on all of RWS’s projects. Notable examples are “The Spirit,” Joseph Fiennes’ directorial debut, winner of the Cinema for Peace Award for Best Film at Berlinale 2008; “Atlantis,” Best TV Drama Series nomination at Monte Carlo Television Festival 2008, and Best Telenovela and Serial Program nomination at BANFF World Television Festival 2008 in Canada; “Pain,” Best TV Drama Series nomination at Monte Carlo Television Festival 2007, Best TV Drama Series nomination at Seoul Drama Awards 2007; and “Zona,” Best TV Drama Series nomination at Monte Carlo Television Festival 2006.

Sapronov began his career at Lenfilm, rising from senior film supervisor to deputy CEO, before he was appointed as deputy CEO of the St. Petersburg Creative Production Association. He was later hired as deputy CEO of Petrograd-film studio, before moving to East Europe Entertainment as a Vice President. From there he became the CEO of Videoart-Profi.

A native of St. Petersburg, Sapronov holds a degree from St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy (formerly Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema), and a master’s degree from St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance.
